Pilot Super Grip Fine Ballpoint Pen
I was never interested in the Pilot Super Grip ballpoint pens before, mainly due to the reason that I just prefer Zebra Gel Airfits all along, until I was looking for a pen that matches with my Pilot Super Grip 2020 Mechanical Shaker, and to my surprise, it did match well.
The design of the pen itself is pretty well made, with the clip just far enough so that it doesn't bump onto my index finger when writing (or maybe its just my hands are small?). If there's one complaint, it would be the tip of the pen not neon orange colored too, which makes it seems odd since the rest of the pen is pretty much covered by this color.
One thing worth mentioning is that for the retractable system, you have to push pretty far for the writing tip to stay exposed, which could be a plus or minus depending on how you see the situation. I personally prefer the softer clicking, or maybe I just need to get used to this.
The grip itself is pretty neat too, but I'm not a fan of clear grips, mainly due to it getting yellow after a while of use. However, because my main goal is to match my Pilot Super Grip 2020 Mechanical Shaker, it worked out well enough. The surface of the grips gets softer and smoother as time goes by (assuming that you're using it constantly), making it one of the more comfortable grips to hold onto. However, if the grips gets constantly gets exposed to the sun for a long period of time, the surface of the grips actually dries out, making it very uncomfortable for use afterwards. Basically, if you're getting this pen, I suggest you either use it frequently, or never use it (for collection and/or display purpose maybe?).
Changing the refill of this pen is pretty much the same as most other ballpoint pens, by twisting off the tip to remove the used ink-tube One thing to note is that the spring tends to fall out easily, so make sure you're careful with this, otherwise your Super Grip would be useless until you find a new spring to replace it.
Overall this pen is a pretty good, with a few minor flaws on the design and the grips. The pen itself also comes in many colors, so if you don't like the clear orange one shown above, they still have the many different choices, including the generic black, blue and red choices (note that all Super Grips still writes with the same blue ink). For this price point, its easy to recommend to others.
